Villa Mangiacane is located just outside Florence and is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Kiwi Collection. My experience in this beautiful, pink, 15th cencury villa started with a pick up with their shuttle in Florence, before getting a welcome drink upon arrival in the hotel. After a short registration I was escorted to the room. A beautiful two-level Deluxe Room. Living room on top and a very comfortable bed downstairs as you can see in my video below. What makes Villa Mangiacane special is the property itself and it’s surroundings. Beautiful and perfect place to relax within easy reach of Florence, especially with their complimentary city shuttle that runs several times daily. 27 rooms total and I expected a high level of personalized service. The service was good in many parts with kind, smiling staffs, but that was also about it and the attention to details was lacking in some areas. One of them was the restaurant. The service didn’t impress me there and the food was not up to the standards of other country hotels I’ve stayed in Italy. That said the breakfast was very good, but had expected more from the dinner.
The facilities included a nice outdoor swimming pool and a smaller spa with an indoor swimming pool. To sum up, it’s a very beautiful country villa and highly recommended as an alternative to the great hotels in Florence itself.
My opinion: Great experience.
