Twinpalms Phuket

Introduction: A tranquil and secluded escape just metres from Surin Beach, Twinpalms Phuket Hotel Resort is set in a magical, water garden landscape. Contemporary and stylish, this privately-owned resort has a hip, restaurant and bar, a fabulous beach club, a world-class spa, all delivered with thoughtful and attentive service.

Blissfully sleek and minimalist rooms and suites at Twinpalms Phuket feature a private terrace with a view of the lagoon. This place has a totally unhurried and chilled-out ambiance where the only energy you need to expend is lying by the pool or sitting on a stretch of golden tropical sand.

It takes just a little more stamina to charter the resort’s Twinpalms One yacht for an island hopping sea cruise discovering deserted beaches and diving sites. A visit to the spa is a real treat where the four-hour ‘Dawn to Dusk’ treatment provides the ultimate in pampering after which you will emerge positively glowing.

Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a drink and towel before being escorted to the room.

What surprised me: The food was better than expected. The rest was pretty much as expected.

What about the food: Surprisingly good food. Both the local Thai food and the western food was of good quality. I stayed at Zeavola, another SLH-property on the following day, where the GM told me Twinpalms is known for their good food. Definitely another good reason to select Twinpalms in Phuket.

What about the service: The service met my expectatons, without being extraordinary. Kind service from smiling staff, but some could need more training. More attention to details such as bath salt at the bathtub could be a way to improve the experience.

What about the rooms: Contemporary and minimalistic rooms with separate rain showers, bath tubs, comfortable beds and flatscreen Tv’s. Directly access to the public swimming pool from the room.

Number of rooms: 97.

Type of property: Resort.

Location: Phuket, Thailand.

Facilities: Spa, swimming pool, gym and business/meeting facilities.

Complimentary internet: Yes. Medium speed.

My overall impression: Great experience. A resort up to Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s standards. Great value for money in low season and a definitely good choice in Phuket for the price. There are better resorts in Phuket, but you will have to pay a lot more.
