Tinga Legends Lodge

Lion Sand recently took over Tinga Lodge and I was excited to see if it could compare with Singita in any way. The arrival experience didn’t impress me as there was no one to welcome me. I was told they had been very busy, but that’s a very bad excuse for a huge mistake.

I stayed in a suite which was lovely designed with African touches. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had great South African Charlotte Rhys products. It also had separate shower from the bathtub which is an important detail for some. The outside area was lovely with a smaller private plunge pool.

The service level was overall great. Some staff were absolutely fantastic, while others could need more training. 18 rooms gives to possibility to deliver personalized service and Tinga delivered, but not Singita level as I hoped for. Tinga rates is around half of Singita and 2.000 dollars pr. night is still a lot of money. They did delivered a long way, but the experience can definitely be improved.

The food was a mixed experience. The lunch with salat and pasta was really great, but the dinner was a big disappointed. The steak was inedible and I instead got another great pasta.

Overall a great experience to the portfolio. It’s a mid choice between Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge and Singita and I think they deliver just that. Highly recommended if you can afford it.

My opinion: Great experience.
