Marriott and Radisson are the two best hotels in Tbilisi and after having checked the contemporary Radisson I was excited to see the quality of the classical Marriott.
The Marriott is located in a beautiful historical building 500 metres from the Radisson. The check in was very nice. Smiling receptionist that gave me club lounge access because of my gold status of Ritz-Carlton Rewards. The club lounge was average, but with very friendly staff.
My room was an Executive Room. Very typical Marriott, however this could need an update as the design has started to look tired. 10 years ago guests did not mind the shower in a bathtub, but today it’s a must to have it separted. As my bathroom had the shower in the bathtub it’s something to be aware of when renovating the hotel. Small refurbishments has been made like replacing the old Tv’s with flatscreen Tv’s, but it didn’t took away the general feel outdated feel of the room.
The service was overall better than I expected. Georgians are very friendly people and the locals was very helpful with everything during my stay. I stayed 1 week in Georgia and everytime I needed help the locals were smiling and helpful. Just to finish with the club lounge I want to add that one of the benefits is complimentary airport transfers which is a very valuable benefit in my opinion.
To sum up, the hotel met my expectations in every way and feels like a Marriot. Comfortable, full-service and well-managed, but with nothing being over the top.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
