Sofitel is Accor premium brand and has changed quite a lot in the last few years. Their weaker properties have been excluded and/or re-branded and left is a collection of high quality hotels. One of the newest ones is the Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche, located in the heart of the business district of the city center. It has 24 floors and 171 rooms total including 30 suites.
My experience stated with a really great check in experience. Very friendly, smiling receptionist gave a warm welcome and offered me an early check in although the hotel was almost full. This was highly appreciated as I had traveled from Andalucia in 24 hours to get to Casablanca.
I stayed in a Deluxe Room and was fortunately enough to get a non-smoking room. The hotel unfortunately allows smoking in their public areas. Morocco has no law against it and it’s entirely up to each property to decide their own policy. Some allow it, some don’t and Sofitel unfortunately does. The room was beautifully designed and with a typical design for the newer Sofitel hotels. A great combination of modern and classical. The bathroom was very nice and with rainshower, although it didn’t have a bathtub. The bathroom also had L’Occitane products which is unusual for Sofitel, they use Hermes in the other properties I have stayed, but I certainly prefer L’Occitane. The bed was really comfortable and the rooms are definitely up to a high standard.
For me Casablanca Sofitel is somewhere between good and great. I have decided to rank it great due to it’s great service. The hotel is well-run and the staff is well-trained. Also a big plus for it’s spa facilities including the large indoor swimming pool. The stay ended with a good breakfast with a large selection of food.
The bottom line is Casablanca Sofitel is one of the great Sofitel hotels. It is a hotel that works as a big 5-star hotel should and feels a lot like the other newer Sofitel hotels.
