I stayed in Eratap near Port Vila on the night before and took a domestic flight to Espirato Santo where Ratua waited for me. After a 20 minutes car ride and 45 minutes in a boat I finally arrived in a true paradise, Ratua Private Island.
I received a warm welcome by the staff and I had a great welcome drink before being escorted to my room. I stayed in a master suite villa and it was very unique. Everything was made of 200 year old Indonesian wood and it had a great feeling to it with it’s uniquely design. I loved it. Everything was specially designed and with attention to every detail. The bed was comfortable as well and the beach was right outside the villa. Wonderful.
With Relais&Chateaux the expectations for the food is always high and Ratua delivered on that point as well. All the food were local produce and most of it were grown on the island itself. The beef of Vanuatu is probably the best in the world and the food quality in general really impressed me.
The service level exceeded my expectations. For me the attitude of staff is the most important thing and it couldn’t be better. Some of the most fantastic staff I’ve seen in the world. Always smiling and happy. I had a walk around the island and suddently saw where the staff live. They were playing football, all happy, smiling and laughing. Great to see such an enviroment.
Overall one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had. It’s truly a paradise with fantastic staff, great food, unique rooms and a special character. Highly recommended for everyone and especially for people that are looking for the best possible “Once in a lifetime experience”.
