Park Hyatt is the premium brand of Hyatt with some of the world’s best hotels in many interesting destinations around the world. When looking at their portfolio two of the most unusual destinations would be Hamburg and Baku in Azerbaijan. Hamburg because it isn’t quite one of the top destinations of Europe and it’s interesting to find a Park Hyatt hotel in this location.
My stay here was only 16 hours. Checking in at 8 PM and out at noon the following day. The front desk impressed me from the start with a professional and quick check in before being escorted to the elevator, not the room which I had expected in a Park Hyatt. I stayed in a standard room which I really loved. Two high end products made a first great impression. The Bang&Olufsen Tv and L’Occitane products in the bathroom. First time I’ve seen them in a Hyatt hotel and they are used more and more by hotels around the world, probably inspired by the Four Seasons chain as it’s their standard product. The room also had a comfortable bed, working desk, impressive bathroom with rain shower and separate shower from the bathtub.
The only thing I didn’t like about Park Hyatt Hamburg is the chargeable internet, but it’s a decision from the top as this is a standard in all Hyatt hotels. The Diamond and Platinum members of their loyalty program, Hyatt Gold Passport, gets complimentary though their stay while all other guests gets 30 minutes complimentary. The internet was very fast so it’s definitely a good benefit for guests with loyalty for Hyatt. The facilities included a beautiful spa with gym and large swimming pool and meeting facilties as Park Hyatt Hamburg primary is a business hotel. I did not dine in the hotel, but had breakfast here and it didn’t impress me. Small selection of food and service not as attentive as I had expected.
As in most business hotels the service would not be personalized due to the large size, but instead professional. Park Hyatt’s front desk staff impressed me. Especially the front office manager on the night I was staying here was top professional with all requests. The rest of the staff delivered a good impression as well except the Spa Manager which wouldn’t allow me to see the swimming pool without chaning. Never been denied that before so thought it would be fair to mention.
The bottom line is that Park Hyatt Hamburg is up to Park Hyatt’s standards in many ways. Most importantly, the design is comparable with the best Park Hyatt hotels I’ve stayed and the rooms are close to perfection for business travelers. The front desk staff are very professional and makes a great impression from beginning to end. Things works and the rates are excellent value. I just saw some things that could be improved as well, but I am still confident there isn’t any better hotel in Hamburg and I think it’s fair to rank it as a truly great experience overall.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
