Mandarin Oriental is one of my favorite hotel brands and most of the hotels are among the best in the world. Mandarin Oriental Munich is the most expensive hotel in Germany and was no exception.
I arrived late and received a warm welcome before being escorted to the room. I stayed in a lovely Superior Junior Suite which was bigger than most suites in ctiy hotels I’ve stayed. A very attractive design, very comfortable bed and wonderful welcome amenties. The minibar is offered free of charge for all suites even if you’re upgraded at check in. Based on my experiences with Mandarin Oriental in the past I had high expectations for the service, especially because this is the smallest Mandarin Oriental in the world. The service was personalized and great, but keep in mind that you pay for it. It’s among the best city hotels in Europe, but at the same time among the more expensive ones. The facilities is getting renovated at the moment, but will soon offer a much nicer gym and spa.
Finally, the food was a great experience and exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was great and my lunch in Mark’s likewise. A well deserved Michlin star.
Overall a fantastic experience. The smallest Mandarin Oriental really delivers as a personalized experience in the great city of Munich. It’s an experience even if you are used to Mandarin Oriental hotels.
