Iru Fushi Beach & Spa Resort

Iru Fushi Beach & Spa Resort was recently re-branded after being a Hilton for many years. This beautiful family resort has 221 rooms total, all villas and are surrounded by over 52 acres of white beach.

The experience starts with a scenic 45 minutes seaplane ride from Malé and the arrival experience was very impressive. Lots of staff welcome all the arriving guests and soon after escorted to the villa. There are 12 different room categories at Iru Fushi and I stayed in a Beach Villa. The entire experience at Iru Fushi is very similar to Conrad Maldives and the villas are no exception. My beach villa was very similar to my beach villa at Conrad Maldives two years ago, but the rates at Iru Fushi are around 40% less. Complimentary internet is surprisingly complimentary as it’s chargeable in all other Hilton hotels around the world. I remember Conrad having complimentary internet as well and was told it was due to the fact guests don’t have a choice of finding internet elsewhere like in the cities. The beach villa is just a few steps from the beach, but with one big problem. Lack of privacy as the villas are located very close to one another. The outdoor bathroom has privacy though and it’s a wonderful place to relax with the jacuzzi tub and outdoor shower.

The food was really good and their buffet dinners was up to a high standard. I would rank them among the better buffet dinners in The Maldives as it had high quality items in the buffet and several stations which you only see in the better 5-star resorts.

Service was overall good, but they lacked attention to some details. The first question I was asked by the first staff was how many nights I was staying. That is not a good first impression, but in general the service was very professional on the phone and at front desk. I didn’t get to talk to that many staff as my stay was only 15 hours due to an early departure the following morning. The stay ended with a very good breakfast and warm farewell. The most important notes about Iru Fushi are great value, great food, great for families, lack of privacy and some details, but overall professional run.

My opinion: Great experience.
