Guyana is the only English speaking country in South America and little known for tourism. The country is also one of the few country in the world that does not have a luxury hotel. So where was I going to stay? The two Bed&Breakfast Herdmanston Lodge and The Eldorado Inn are the best options in the capital of Georgetown. Herdmanston Lodge has 14 rooms, comfortable rooms and complimentary internet access.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and I liked Herdmanston Lodge more than many luxury hotels I stay in. It has a lovely homely feeling and a lovely quiet location in a safe residential area of Georgetown. Another plus is that I met many interesting guests during my stay as this is as good as it gets in Guyana. Finally it’s worth to mention the breakfast, where I highly recommend trying the local dishes which are something completely different from what I’ve had elsewhere in the world. Definitely the place to stay to Guyana and as you probably have low expectations, I am sure they will be exceeded.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
