Introduction: The Serena Hotel in Dushanbe Tajikistan sets the benchmark for a deluxe 5 star hotel in the capital city. Located on the Rudaki Avenue, a central location on the main boulevard of the city, the spectacular facade with Tajik motifs adds to the one-of-a-kind landmark.
Situated on an expansive 1.2 hectares of land, Dushanbe Serena Hotel is within walking distance of government offices, diplomatic missions, multinational and state owned companies, tourist attractions such as national and art museums, exhibition centers, cinemas, an opera theatre, and general commercial offices, and institutions. A 10 minute drive from the Dushanbe International Airport, the five-star luxury hotel has been designed and developed as a social and business hub for the residents of Dushanbe as well as the foreigners visiting the capital city for business or for leisure.
Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.
What I loved: The authentic feel and great rooms.
What about the food: The hotel offered me full board, but the buffet could have been better. Sheraton Dushanbe has a lot better food, but Serena is a much more local and authentic experience.
What about the service: The service was better than the best hotels in many 3rd world countries, but more training would certainly improve the experience. Great English by the front desk, but service level was better at the Serena hotels in Islamabad and Kabul.
What about the rooms: A typical Serena with classical authentic rooms. Very similar to their Kabul-property. The rooms have beautifully designed beds that, however, could have been a bit more soft. Separate shower from the bathtub and lovely Penhaligon’s products in the bathroom. A plus for the complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bar.
Number of rooms: 95.
Type of property: City hotel.
Location: Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Facilities: Fitness Center, Spa, Pool and meeting/business facilities.
Complimentary internet: Yes, but very slow.
My overall impression: Great experience.
